Frequently Asked Questions

WHO IS RAY FORD?

Ray Ford was born in the still of the night on a mountaintop in Tennessee. At the hop.

WHAT IS HIS BACKGROUND?

Ray has worked his entire radio career in Beckley, WV, and loves the mid-century music that he grew up playing on the air as a small child.

WHERE IS THE RAY FORD SHOW LOCATED?

I HEAR COMMERCIALS FOR CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL!

Ray Ford's family have no issues with these things, although Ray doesn't smoke as much as he did in 1957.

THERE ARE SOME RECORDS THAT AREN'T APPROPRIATE NOW!

Yes, there are. If there are songs playing that espouse stereotypes (and there will be) they are here because they were sizable hits at the time. Ray doesn't believe these are necessarily appropriate, either, but is playing them for historical context.

IF I WANTED TO LISTEN TO LOW-FI MONO I'D CUT OFF AN EAR!

Go right ahead. Ray loves the sound of vintage AM radio and thinks it's time to bring it back, complete with static. Keep your ear and listen to Spotify, instead.

RAY PLAYED THE STEREO ALTERNATE TAKE OF "LIPS THAT QUIVER" BY THE PUCKER-UPS! THAT WASN'T AVAILABLE UNTIL 1997!

Ray is very old and very forgetful, please forgive him.
